1. What we stand for

We are a peaceful, non-partisan community network. Everyone is welcome regardless of race, religion, background, disability, sexuality, gender, immigration status or politics. Full stop.

2. How we behave with each other

• Treat every person with respect and patience.
• Listen more than you speak, especially with newcomers.
• Assume good faith unless someone gives you a real reason not to.
• If someone is having a bad day, remember it might be one of the days you would want other people to be kind on.

3. What we do not tolerate

• Harassment of any kind — verbal, physical, or online — including on grounds of race, religion, disability, sexuality or gender.
• Threats, intimidation, or violence.
• Recruitment for political parties or campaigns during our events.
• Turning up under the influence in a way that puts others at risk.
• Sharing photos or video of members without their consent.

Anyone acting like this at our events will be asked to leave. Serious cases are referred to the police.

4. Children and vulnerable adults

See our safeguarding policy for the full detail. In short: any concern about a child or a vulnerable adult goes to the safeguarding lead the same day.

5. Online spaces

• Everything above applies in our chats, on our website, and on @freenationtoday.
• Do not share other members' personal details, addresses or photos without consent.
• Screenshots of private group chats do not go outside those chats.

6. Reporting a concern

If something is not right, tell us:

• Speak to the coordinator at the event.
• Email the safeguarding lead: safeguarding@freenationtoday.forum.
• For anything that cannot wait, call 999.

You do not have to give your name. We take every report seriously and treat it in confidence.

7. Consequences

Depending on what happened, consequences range from a quiet word, to being asked to leave a single event, to being asked to leave the network permanently. Decisions are made by the safeguarding lead in consultation with at least two other coordinators.

8. Reviewing this code

We review this code at least once a year, and any time something happens that shows a gap in it. Members can propose changes at any time by emailing the general inbox.
