1. What we collect

• When you email us: your email address, name if you give it, and the content of your message.
• When you volunteer: the details you share on our volunteer form (name, email, town, role interest). Nothing more than we need.
• When you attend an event: nothing by default. If you RSVP, we hold your name and email until the event is over.
• Safeguarding records as required by our safeguarding policy.
• This website: the server that hosts it may log standard access information (IP address, browser, page requested). We do not use tracking cookies. We do not run analytics that identify you.

2. Why we collect it

We collect the minimum needed to run the network — replying to messages, planning events, coordinating volunteers, and protecting people. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests for running the community network, and consent for the newsletter.

3. Who we share it with

Nobody — except in the following, limited cases:

• Where a safeguarding concern requires reporting to a statutory authority (local authority safeguarding team, police).
• Where we are required to disclose information by law.

We do not sell data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not send it to any political party or campaign.

4. How long we keep it

• General enquiry emails: up to 12 months after our last contact with you.
• Volunteer records: while you are a volunteer, plus 12 months.
• Event RSVPs: deleted within 30 days of the event.
• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
• Safeguarding records: as long as needed for the concern, and in line with local authority guidance.

5. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
• Ask us to delete it, subject to legal or safeguarding retention.
• Object to us processing it, or withdraw consent for the newsletter.
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

6. Cookies

This website does not set tracking cookies. The Google Maps embed on the contact page is provided by Google and may set its own cookies when the map loads; see Google's cookie policy for detail.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how we handle your data, we will announce it on this page and — for people who have given us their email — by email.
